Music and movies

Wed Jul 29, 2009, 11:42 AM
Okay. I am not one to promote anything, BUT I have come across a movie and a band that I truly feel needs the promotion.

The movie:

Repo the Genetic Opera

Let me start by saying I love this movie. It has got a little bit of everything for everybody. There is gore, death, surgery, singing, and more. Basically, it is about this girl, Shilo, who after 17 years of being confined indoors finally experiences the horrors and wonders of the drug and surgery addicted world outside. Trust me when I say there is far more to it then that, but I can hardly do it justice.

My favorite songs are "Chase the Morning" sung by Shilo and Blind Mag (who is played by Sarah Brightman, if that means anything to anyone) and well, to be honest, anything sung by Graverobber. Go rent the movie...after that if you like it go buy the movie and soundtrack. The company who put the movie out doesn't believe it can have a large enough and strong enough fan-base...prove them wrong. The movie is easy enough to get. The soundtrack for the most part has to be bought online and downloaded. I got lucky and my Hot Topic had 2 cds of the extended cd. Trust me it's worth it.

The Music:

Omnia (any of their cds)

This is probably one of the best groups I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. They are from Holland and have yet to actually make to American stores. So far I have bought 2 cds from their website and I couldn't be happier.

Omnia is a neo-celtic pagan rock band...don't let that throw you. Several of their songs are actually poems that they have set to music ("The Raven" by Poe for example). They incorperate many world instruments into what I can only describe as irish music on steriods...in the good sense. Keep in mind that some of their songs are strictly instrumentle ("Mabon").

If you search for them online you're probably going to have to search: Omnia band. Their website has several songs that can be downloaded and listened to. You can also find some of their music on YouTube using the same search words. I am not kidding when I say that they are truly an amazing group with so much talent. They are worth the search.

Oh and my favorite song has to be "The Morrigan".

  • Mood: Excited
  • Listening to: The Elven Lover by Omnia
  • Reading: Wolverine - Tainted Blood or something like that
  • Watching: History of the World Part 1
  • Playing: Free Realms
  • Eating: Icepops
  • Drinking: Diet Mountain Dew
